4. The "alleged" journalists who utilized their actual or pretended journalistic capacity as an excuse for free admission to the Games had to be eliminated as much as possible and prevented from taking advantage of the special press facilities.
With these points in view, the details of the press organization were discussed and laid down by the Press Commission of the Organizing Committee. This Commission was under the direction of the Deputy Press Director of the Reich Government, Ministerial Councillor Alfred Ingemar Berndt, who, as an active member of the Organizing Committee, dovoted his full attention and support to the task. The Press Commission also enjoyed the cooperation of the Technical Committee of Sporting Editors in the Reich Federation of the German Press and of the Reich Association for Physical

Training through its representatives and leading sporting editors such as Dr. Hans Bollmann, Kurt Doerry, Herbert Obscherningkat, Erich Schonborn and others who were not only valuable in an advisory capacity but also as active collaborators. The proposals which the Director of the Press Department in the Organizing Committee made to the Commission were based upon his personal experiences at the Olympic Games of Amsterdam in 1928 and the reports dealing with the Los Angeles Festival of 1932.

The following press accommodations were provided at the different scenes of competition, these being placed in the midst of the spectator stands. In this connection it should be mentioned that the press boxes at all of the former Olympic Festivals were decidedly smaller.
